China’s ZTE is reported to have won a WiMAX supply contract from the Indian state-owned telco, BSNL. ZTE India chairman & managing director Dr DK Ghosh told the Economic Times that the company would supply the gamut of WiMAX systems to hasten BSNL’s rollout over the next six months.
The contract has been valued at around Rs 300 crore (US$63.8 million).
The newspaper noted that it is currently unclear if ZTE will supply its hardware direct to BSNL, or is acting as a supplier to a third-party integration specialist
