Stocks have shown a notable move to the upside over the course of afternoon trading on Friday, climbing back towards their best levels of the day after seeing a notable pullback in the mid-morning. The major averages remain off their highs for the session but have moved back more firmly into positive territory.
Computer hardware stocks are seeing considerable strength in mid-afternoon trading, with electronic storage stocks turning in some of the sector’s best performances. Financial, railroad, and health insurance stocks are also posting standout gains, while modest weakness remains visible among gold stocks.
The major averages have continued to edge higher in the past few minutes and are currently posting substantial gains. The Dow is up 112.01 points or 1.1 percent at 10,432.11, the Nasdaq is up 28.91 points or 1.3 percent at 2,228.92 and the S&P 500 is up 13.10 points or 1.2 percent at 1,103.20.
